April is National Poetry Month, and HWA CO is celebrating with a horror poetry workshop followed by a horror poetry reading at Mutiny Information Café on Friday, April 28.
Kill Your Darlings: a Horror Poetry Workshop from 5 to 6:30 pm
Shall I compare thee to … a chainsaw massacre? Poetry and horror might seem like a strange combination, but you can learn to blend them beautifully. In this workshop, led by horror writer and poetry slam veteran Lindsay King-Miller, we’ll read and discuss work at the intersection of poetry and horror. We’ll also generate lots of new writing, perfect for sharing at the reading to follow! No experience necessary—just bring a notebook and pen.
Vicious Verse: a Horror Poetry Live Reading Event from 7 to 8:30 pm
Join us for a reading exploring the darker side of poetry. Share your slasher sonnets and ghostly ghazals, or just grab a drink and enjoy. All experience levels welcome to share their spooky prose and poetry.
Workshop participants do not have to participate in the reading and vice versa.
Mutiny Information Café is located at 2 S Broadway, Denver, CO 80209.
This is a free event. No sign up necessary. For more information, contact coloradohorror@gmail.com.
