HWA CO Announces Summer Virtual Workshops

Golden, Colorado—Horror Writers Association, Colorado (HWA CO) will host two virtual workshops free to HWA CO chapter members and the public in July and August of 2023.

These virtual workshops will be held via Zoom with a run time of 90 minutes each. The workshops are designed to provide two types of classes: an entry-level session on writing in the horror genre and an advanced horror studies session for those looking for more in-depth discussions within the horror genre.

The entry-level workshop, Plumbing the Depths to Find Your Story: An Entry Level Workshop for Writing Short Horror Stories, will be held on Thurs., July 20 at 7 p.m. and instructed by author and professor Travis Heermann who is also a HWA CO advisory member. The advanced horror studies workshop, The Dreadful Company We Keep: An Ethics of Horror Fiction, will focus on the ethics of consuming and writing horror fiction and will be held on Thurs., Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. and instructed by author, actor, and activist Jeaums Wilkes who is also co-chair of HWA CO.
