Horror Poetry Workshop & Open Mic

April is National Poetry Month and HWA Colorado is celebrating with a free horror poetry workshop and open mic with local author and poet, Lindsay King-Miller, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 2 to 4 pm at Sam Gary Branch Library in Denver.

For the first hour, King-Miller will run a workshop on writing poetry of the horror variety, then participants will be invited to share their poems (old and new, horror or otherwise) during an open mic event in the second hour. Both events are open to the public and can be joined separately from each other. This event is free, open to the public, and great for novice and experienced poets and everyone in between.

Lindsay King-Miller is the author of The Z Word (Quirk, 2024), and This Is My Body (Quirk, 2025). She co-founded the Ocotillo Poetry Slam in Tucson, AZ, and her poetry has appeared in The Deadlands, Orion’s Belt, and numerous other publications. She is an instructor in the Graduate Program of Creative Writing at Western Colorado University. She lives in Denver, CO with her partner and their two children.
